Dad’s Club Swim Team Parent Code of Conduct
Dad’s Club Swim Team has created this Code of Conduct to help foster a culture that supports swimmer development.
It takes a team effort to help our swimmers reach their goals: parents and coaches each play an important role.
Parent Expectations
As the parent of a DADS swimmer, you agree to follow these standards of behavior and sportsmanship.
Set a Good Example
- Follow USA Swimming Safe Sport policies.
- Show respect and be polite to everyone.
- Ensure your swimmer arrives on time for practices and meets.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship: win gracefully, lose graciously, and congratulate opponents.
- Assume positive intent from coaches and officials—we all share the goal of swimmer success.
- Represent DADS in a positive and respectful manner at all practices, meets, and team functions.
Parent’s Role
- Coaches coach. Officials officiate. Parents parent.
- Support your swimmer through encouragement and positive reinforcement.
- Do not coach your child during practices or meets.
- Do not interfere with practices, meets, or coaching decisions.
- Address concerns by scheduling a private discussion with the coach during appropriate times.
Swim Meet Etiquette
- Respond promptly to meet entry communications.
- Arrive early to allow adequate time for check-in and preparation.
- Parents should never approach a meet officials. Please contact your swimmer’s coach after the meet if you have any questions.
- Do not enter the pool deck unless you are a registered and authorized volunteer or official through USA Swimming.
- Maintain a positive team image—wear team gear and model appropriate behavior.
- Pay all meet fees and related expenses on time.
Get Involved
- Consider becoming a USA Swimming official.
- Volunteer at swim meets—meets rely on parent participation to run smoothly.
- Support team activities and community-building events.
Conduct & Accountability
Parents are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on DADS and aligns with the standards of USA Swimming.
Failure to follow this Code of Conduct, or behavior that brings discredit or disruption to the team, may result in disciplinary action. DADS reserves the right to impose consequences including, but not limited to, warnings, removal from practices or meets, and suspension or termination of membership.
