Swim Start Policies & Procedures

The following information outlines the policies and procedures for all Dad’s Club Swim Start participants. Additional information and forms, along with complete registration information, can be found in your parent portal.

parent portal

Communication

  • Email and text messaging are the primary communication methods for daily updates and program and financial information.
  • The Dad's Club website is the primary source for urgent weather closures. Check the home page for class cancellations.

Class Duration

  • Swim with Me and Bridge with Me classes with two or fewer children will be 20 minutes in duration.
  • Group classes are 30 minutes. If only one child is present in the class, that class will run for 20 minutes.
  • Stroke & Endurance classes are 45 minutes. If only one child is present in the class, that class will run for 30 minutes.
  • Please be on time, if you show up tardy 10 or more minutes after the start of class you will forfeit that days class.

Payment and Fees

  • Dad’s Club accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express or check.
  • All fees and tuition are non-refundable.
  • Tuition is prorated for those starting in the middle of a session and payments are due upon registration.
  • A $60.00 registration fee is required for all new families whose child is registered for a class. A $60.00 administration fee is required for all returning families.
  • A $20.00 fee is charged for declined credit cards.
  • A $50.00 fee is charged for a change of class.

Continuing/ Cancelling of Swim Lessons

  • Dad's Club Swim Start lessons are perpetual. Families have top priority over their spot for the next session. They can choose to stay in the same class and time each session, or elect to move classes prior to the open registration period.
  • Re-registration notices are emailed out four to six weeks prior to the end of the session. To officially hold or release your spot, your response is required within seven days. (See our Session Schedule & Fees for dates.) Failure to complete the emailed form within seven days may mean you or your child could lose their spot in class, and a $25 non-response fee will be charged to the credit card on file, which covers the cost of additional communications to verify your status.

Inclement Weather

  • Swim Start lessons are held rain or shine, unless we have severe weather directly upon us. In the event that we cancel lessons due to severe acts of nature, we will attempt to notify all families/students about the cancellation via our website and text messaging. You will need to opt-in for this feature.
  • Canceled lessons will be posted by time on the website, Click on the Weather Alert link on the top of the home page.
  • The first lesson canceled due to weather (per weekday) will not be made up. If severe weather cancels that same class again, we will provide makeups. Makeup information will be emailed to parents.
  • When inclement weather closes the pool during a swim lesson (group, semi-private, private or Stroke & Endurance), a class that has been taught for 20 minutes will be considered a full class.

Makeups

  • Please contact the office via email (eva.mueller@dadsclubaquatics.com) if your swimmer will be missing class and/or to schedule a makeup. In order to be eligible for a makeup, you must contact the office prior to the swimmer's missed lesson.
  • Two makeups are allowed per session. All makeups must be completed prior to the last day of the enrolled session.
  • Group makeup lessons are $12.00 per child, per makeup. Stroke & Endurance makeup classes are $15.00 per child, per makeup. (Stroke & Endurance makeups are 30 minutes in duration.)
  • Makeups are scheduled based on availability.
  • There are no refunds for scheduled makeups that are missed.
  • If an instructor is absent, Dad's Club will do its best to provide a substitute. If we are unable to provide a substitute, we will make up the lesson at no charge.
  • When multiple classes have to be rescheduled, we will only provide one makeup day. We use Fridays as our mass makeup days, you will be texted/emailed regarding your makeup date and scheduled time.

Special Programs

  • Special/seasonal programs include intensive Streamline, Spring Valley Dolphins, tryDad's, Lifeguard Training and Red Cross courses.
  • All special/seasonal program fees are due at the time of registration. These fees are non-refundable and are not prorated.
  • There are no makeups for special/seasonal programming.

Parent Information

  • We allow all parents to observe swim lessons within the pool area, with the understanding that you will not interfere with the ongoing lesson. If this becomes a problem, the instructor and/or Aquatics Director has the right to ask you to observe the lessons from another part of the deck or facility.
  • Parents are to sit on the westside of the 33 yard pool under the canopies, on the bleachers or bring your own chair and sit in the grassy area.
  • If your child experiences separation anxiety, the instructor may ask you to remain out of sight for the first few lessons. (We have several areas where you can view lessons out of sight of your swimmer.) Once the child is adjusted to the class, you may return to view in the pool deck area.
  • A designated responsible adult must be on the premises throughout the entire lesson.
  • Dad's Club is a membership-only facility. All swim lesson swimmers that are not members must exit the pool immediately after their swim lessons.
  • Long hair should be tied back or put in a cap.
  • All diapers and clothes must be changed in the designated locker rooms or outside bathrooms. NO DECK CHANGES PLEASE!
  • A disposable and permanent swim diaper is required for all children who are not potty trained and/or are prone to accidents.
  • Please keep an eye on your children that are not involved with swim lessons. This means:
    - No swimming, unless you are a member of Dad's Club.
    - No standing on chairs.
    - No playing on the equipment.
    - No horseplay.

Special Needs/Special Care Classes

  • To best service our special needs and special care classes, our staff must be made aware of as much information as possible so that they can properly care for your swimmer. You must fill out the medical section of the registration form and you can add any additional information into the comments box at the end of the form.
  • Unless otherwise stated, the instructors for special needs/special care classes are not registered therapists.
  • A doctor's release may be required for heart conditions, respiratory conditions, diabetes, epilepsy, and anything that would require special care or emergency procedures. This information will be kept confidential.
